Beeswax is a product produced by worker honey bees. After special glands have secreted a wax, it is moulded through the use of the worker bee’s mouthparts into the cones. The secretion gland is found on the bottom of the underside of the abdomen. The pure colour of the wax once secreted into a snowflake effect is white. After it is moulded into the honey comb to make storage space for honey and pollen the colour changes to a lemony yellow .This is due to the contamination with pollen and other bee products found in the hive. |
